Today on Community Voices with Carly Alyssa Thorne we talk with John Suffern, VP of Non-Profit Services and Solutions at Lumity. We talk about non-profits and about Lumity connecting nonprofits to vital resources.
With 24 years of experience in information data management, workforce development, business development, customer relations and project management, John now leads the Non-Profit Services division at Lumity which includes Technology, Finance, Training, and NPO.net.
Since joining Lumity, John has worked with numerous Chicago area non-profits to help achieve their mission through more effective technology solutions within non-profit budgets. This includes Client Relation Management systems, Cloud Migration, Telephony, and outsourcing IT Managed Services. Under John’s guidance, Lumity holds quarterly Technology Seminars on innovative solutions for the non-profit industry and has partnered with Microsoft and Google to host these events.
His achievements include developing a web-based job matching system for the City of Chicago, successfully matching 1,000 Chicago residents to jobs at Ford Motor Company’s manufacturing campus. He implemented the QuietAgent Workforce Solution technology at Career Advancement Network’s job training programs in Chicago and has 12 years of experience working with the government in outsourcing adult and youth workforce development programs.
In 2007, John received a Distinguished Service Award from US District Attorney Pat Fitzgerald for his work in employment projects serving ex-offenders in Chicago. John has a BA in Business Administration from Beloit College.

In her five years at Lumity, Kara stabilized the organization and expanded its focus into workforce development in partnership with non-select schools and community technology centers.
